The Illinois Solar Tour is a FREE self-guided event that demonstrates how Illinois homes and businesses are using solar, wind, geothermal, passive solar design, and energy efficiency to be energy independent.
A National Event
The ISEA Illinois Solar Tour is part of the American Solar Energy Society’s (ASES) National Solar Tour event, “the largest grassroots solar event in history.” More than 160,000 participants will visit some 5,500 buildings in 3,200 communities across the U.S. on tour day.
The Solar Tour was well received and we finally had a nice sunny and breezy day so solar and wind systems could show off. For those who participated, we hope you enjoyed the event and learned how people in Illinois are effectively using renewable energy to power their homes and businesses.
Attendees were very interested in electric vehicles, charging stations and sites with multiple technologies. Each of those sites had 40 to 100 visitors!
Most of you heard about the tour from the ISEA website, with the next most popular sources newspapers, friends/family, and ABC News respectively.
The Illinois Solar Tour website will have information about plans for 2012, so check back often! Click here if you have a solar, wind or geothermal installation and are interested in learning about being a Host Site for 2012.
